My interview on Uncanny Creatives was released today. I had a LOT of fun in this interview. “Pops” asked me a question that rang true native NYC: how does identity play out here and how does it play out in the arts? I was really happy to answer this in the same way I write: I weave the past to the present. He gave me and Rafael Romeo Magat props for 51 Solstice in Women in Comics Magazine in layering so much in a 3 page comic (at 22:20 minutes).we met at Diversity Comic Con.
I managed to cover Graphic Mundi, Speculative Fiction for Dreamers, Zine100 (why use the word colonize), how nudges shape my path (shoutout to editor Alex Hernandez ), how the comics community is part of my journey, how illustrators like Seth Martel serve also as mentors…. Why art appears later in my life (on the publishing side). Really, a packed interview, with a tease of the next project I’m working on now.
Props to Pops for asking for zinesters to come for an interview! Also if you have Uncanny in your name, I’m there!
